My main inspiration came from the beauty of landscapes, especially when the warm sun shines and brings out dancing colours I can transfer back into my paintings, bringing them to life.
My first two major acrylic paintings were from the same scene of a field in Ingham, one in the glorious sunshine full of colour and life and the other in the following winter with stripped back trees and the dusting of a snow blanket.
My aim of these paintings was not to be so tight and controlled. I wanted to use the paint in a more careless way and so working on a bigger scale allowed this and I could begin to capture the atmosphere of a scene.
My artist inspirations for these landscape works were Kurt Jackson and Paul Evans. Two artists definitely worth looking at if you are interested in landscape work.
You're sure you don't want to go for a Fine Arts course? :)
ReplyDeleteAhh, I know! I've done a foundation course though so I'm pretty sure now... I shall post up some textile things when I've done a bit more...really enjoying it though! I'll still paint on the side! :)
